alphabet movie marathon // c
this movie has been sitting in my netflix queue for the longest time. months probably. i've been dreading the thought of watching it. it is so disturbing and completely depressing. and unfortunately, it makes me hate third world countries that would stoop so low as to drive an entire species to extinction. even with real, documented footage, slaughtering is still happening. the world government will start caring when our entire ecosystem crumbles. and of course, they'll blame everything and everyone but themselves.

You’ve always been a forward-looker, a destroyer and reassembler, the Great What’s Next. That’s why I shouldn’t have been surprised when I cast a last backward glance at you from the doors of Grand Central on the way to catch my train, and you returned it with the F-sharp blat of a taxi’s horn, and you kept moving. And I knew again it was time to go.
Two years ago this week, another taxicab picked me up at La Guardia Airport and dropped me in the West Village to begin my life as one of yours: a New Yorker. It was 1:30 in the morning. West 11th Street was empty, the asphalt glazed with rain, the scene as still as a movie set. I groped my way up the dark stairway to my two-week sublet where a low bed sat beside a window grilled with bars that looked out on still more barred windows. The night was muggy, and I lay on the bed in my underwear with the window open and listened to the sounds of my new city — first the hydraulic wheeze and grumble of the 3 o’clock garbage trucks, then at dawn the unlikely wop! of tennis volleys from some millionaire’s rooftop court.

so boyfriend is gone. for eighteen days. i think it's a good idea to try and save as much money as possible for my upcoming birthday weekend! so i've decided to go through the alphabet and watch a movie, that i've never seen before, for each letter.
definitely not predictable at all. but it was a movie that was on while cleaning my entire room. it didn't take much attention to follow the story. and i'm glad it had brittany murphy in it!

boyfriend goes back to work november 1. i'm so excited for him and for everyone else associated with brooklyn star. i'm glad that there is a buzz already of the reopening. one person at my job even talked to me about it before i had mentioned anything about boyfriend's new restaurant. the menu looks absolutely delicious and i'm stoked.

walking down to madison square park has been happening quite often after work. i met boyfriend and my cousin there yesterday. boyfriend had to pick up his pay from wilfie's so we walked to the west village. drank a bloody mary of course. and somehow, my cousin convinced me to take, probably the smoothest shot of tequila i've ever had.
the minute we walked outside to get a cab, it started hailing, thunderstorming, and lightning! we ran into bank of america to wait it out, but it was not stopping. i was soaked and freezing.

sometimes i wish that i could carry a wallet in my back pocket like boys can. unfortunately, i'd lose everything or not have enough things to get me through my day. how am i supposed to fit lip balm, lotion, my phone, keys, wallet and overnight things i need for boyfriend's apartment, IN my back pocket? NOT POSSIBLE. solution?

iphone hacks
lately i've started an interest in jail breaking & creating custom themes. thanks to a co worker, i was on my way watching youtube tutorials and using photoshop. after two hours of work, one fugu download and rebooting my phone three times, i saw my own icons on my phone screen.
granted, there are a lot of things i need to fix and that only i know what the icons actually mean, but i now understand how to do the entire process of creating my own theme!
next thing to tackle: creating icons for all apps on my iphone & customizing the battery visual when the phone is charging

McClure's bloody mary mix
i have a ridiculous obsession with bloody mary's. the best one i've found so far is at wilfie & nell where boyfriend is the brunch chef. and he redid their entire brunch menu [i'm totally promoting him). he makes the bloody mary mix from scratch.
my friend had told me about McClure's pickles, but it didn't really intrigue me til i went to the meat hook with boyfriend a couple weeks ago in brooklyn. the jars were in the front of the store near the cash register. they were amazing to look at. too bad i didn't take a picture because this picture doesn't do it justice. on the shelf above were mason jars full of home made bloody mix.
i am so excited to go back to the meat hook and hopefully snag myself a couple of jars. i'd get a jar per week if it wasn't so damn expensive.

this morning, i left boyfriend's house at 645ish. it took me half an hour and a wet, rainy walk to union square to finally slide into the back seat of a cab. instead of going up 1st ave, he drove up park ave instead. between drifting and out of sleep, a huge white figure caught my eye. i leaned toward the window and saw this:
i loved it immediately and thanks to technology, i found out what was in the middle of park ave via my iphone.
so so SO awesome. if it wasn't raining, i would walk there to take my own pictures.
it's been raining non stop and i hope it stops.

Two giant sculptures known as "White Ghost" by Japanese pop artist Yoshitomo Nara are installed on Park Avenue, in conjunction with today's opening of Nara's exhibit at ASIA SOCIETY called "Nobody's Fool." The 12 foot-tall sculptures are made of fiberglass and steel. They are located on the Park Avenue median near the entrances to Asia Society (at 70th Street) and Park Armory (at 67th Street).
Yoshitomo Nara is a leading Japanese Neo Pop artist who is internationally known for his work depicting small children and animals in solitary settings. Nara was born in 1959 in Hirosaki in northern Japan.
